|Decorative piping will always be an essential element of cake decoration. This short introductory course will enable you to develop skills in piping. You will learn how to make and use royal icing and piping bags, pipe basic linework, shells, borders cornelli and runouts.
At the end of this course you should know:

|Cake icing and sugarcraft is as much of an art as it is a craft. Anyone who is familiar with this activity will understand that there is as much pleasure to be gained from contemplating these creations as there is from eating them! Sometimes the work produced is more akin to sculpture than to cakes and has as much potential to satisfy the emotions as it does to satisfy hunger. Our three-term course is open to anyone with an interest and enthusiasm in cake icing and sugarcraft and who may have wondered how those beautiful cake creations that celebrate the special occasions in life such as weddings, birthdays and anniversaries are made. You may already have some experience of this craft and may have attended the Beginners course but if you have no previous experience you are equally welcome and will be made to feel at home by our supportive tutor.

|This course will enable you to cover a cake with icing: either sugar paste or royal icing and decorate it with a variety of finishes. No previous knowledge or experience is required.Different techniques and ways to cover cakes with icing. How to decorate making a range of decorative items to go on top. Choice of decorations will depend on the season.
